My German home town Duesseldorf still holds a very special place in my heart. This is the place where I grew up and where all my happy childhood memories were made. I remember going to the local farmer with my grandma in the evenings to get a can of fresh raw milk (you know – the kind that you need to shake before your drink it), riding my horse thru the fields, playing with friends and just being “out and about” all day. Back then, I took this great freedom and being worry free for granted. But today I know that for many children this is not the norm – and I am even more grateful now that I got to enjoy this wonderful childhood.
So when my friend Vicki came to visit me in Germany, we teamed up with Ellen of Frieda There and did this beautiful bohemian wedding shoot. It not only took place in my home town – but all of a sudden I was surrounded by the happiness and beautiful setting I grew up in. It felt so right – and so magical at the same time. Lastly, we included a horse of a friend of mine and I swear my heart skipped a beat (or two). I was transported back to my childhood years – all the familiar smells and sounds and the gorgeous light that I had enjoyed so many nights when out with my friends was back – and I was lucky to be able to capture some gorgeous photos of a sweet couple which is head over heals in love. These two kept giving each other the sweetest looks thru-out the day – and you could feel their connection and chemistry. It filled me with so much joy that I can’t even put it into words.
Needless to say this shot is near and dear to my heart and I am excited to share these images with you.

Lauren and Cara.
Family is priceless. Your family will catch you when you fall and lift you back on your feet when you are struggling to get up. They have a shoulder to lean on and don’t care if you call them in the middle of the night to pore out your heart. They will laugh with you and celebrate with you – and give you wings to fly as well as roots to ground you. The connection between two sisters is said to be extra tight and special – and I don’t doubt that for a minute. Lauren and Cara are the best examples of this. A great friendship connects these two sisters and I feel honored that I was allowed to witness and capture this special bond between these two amazing young ladies. Xoxo!

Chris and Danielle’s romantic winter wedding took place at the Barns at Wesleyan – a cozy wooden barn – which was filled with lots of candles and decorated with gorgeous white drapes. The string lights in combination with the candles created a warm atmosphere – perfect for a cold winter day. Add some hot fresh apple cider and life music by a phenomenal sax player – and there is nothing more to wish for. Despite the cold weather – Danielle and Chris ventured outside with me for some lovely photos in that glowing winter light – catching the last rays of sunshine. Afterwards, they had a wonderful and multi cultural celebration of their love – including some colorful traditional Afghan dresses and fun dances. The night was filled with joy and laughter – and both – the best man and maid of honor gave the most amazing speeches – making this day more than perfect for the lucky couple.
Traveling is what inspires me. It gives me a chance to recharge and relax. And to meet new people. Make friends. Learn about other cultures. Be surprised and makes me curious. It fuels my soul and fills my heart with happiness. To be able to travel and discover new places, people, cultures is one of the most beautiful and precious gifts – and I feel endlessly grateful for these wonderful opportunities I have been giving once again.
This time, my travels brought me back to Norway – finally – after nearly five years. And it still is as majestic, peaceful and magical as I remembered it from my first visit.
Here is a teeny tiny preview of my adventure in arctic Norway. Much much more to come very soon. Special thanks to my dear friend Karina of Authenticore – who opened her heart and home for me – and who connected me with amazing people along the way. You are such a beautiful person – inside and out. Xoxo!
Who sais you can’t take photos when it’s snowing out? This lovely snow-day engagement session in Munich is proof that – yes you can. And it is even more fun to snuggle in nice and tight when it is cold outside. I had so much fun during the destination engagement session of Theresa and Micha. Not only did they totally rock this cold winter day – but their love for each other showed every minute of this shoot. There is so much chemistry and happiness between these two – and they just enjoyed to play in the snow, snuggle and have fun together. When it finally got to cold out, we all went into one of Munich’s charming old Cafe’s to warm up and to enjoy a hand crafted latte macchiato.
Theresa and Micha – I wish you both only the very best, sunny days and gorgeous rainbows for your life together. May you always be as playful and head over heals in love with each other as you were during our snowy engagement session. Xoxo.
I have been anxiously waiting for my scans of gorgeous Prizette to come in since the moment I took these – and today they arrived. As always, Steve at Photo Impact did an amazing job with them – so I am more than excited to share a tiny sneak preview just before I head out to Europe tomorrow to visit my family.
This session was a very spontaneous mini shoot I did while Ivan and I were in Curacao for our vacation. But somehow, everything fell into place and this shoot kind of “just happened”. We met Prizette one evening while out at a small local restaurant – I was immediately drawn to her smiling eyes and her sweet smile (and of course that awesome hair I am so jealous of). And as you might know – I just love meeting locals wherever I go – and capturing them in their home environment is so special to me. But when it comes to asking people if I can take their photo I get a bit shy and “freeze”- yes – really (I know – it might be hard to believe but it’s true). I just don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable – and you never know…. But I really really wanted to take her photos. Sooooo – I convinced Ivan (and might have bribed him with a cocktail or two) to asked her instead. And I guess he did a good job – because thankfully, she said yes. The next day while exploring the island with another local, we just “stumbled” upon this field of cacti – and I just knew this was the spot. So on our last day on the island we met up with Prizette and drove out to this magical place – where time stands still and the sun is extra golden – turning everything into this magical warm and glowy light. So here is a first taste – so much more to come from Prizette and Curacao when I return from my trip – so come back for more!
And in case this makes you want to get married in Curacao or anywhere nice and sunny – I love traveling and destination weddings and am available to capture your wedding anywhere in this world. Hint Hint.
Babies are little miracles and such an incredible gift. They bring such endless joy to couples and families – and this is why working with families, babies and kids is such a blessing for me. I feel very honored every time I get booked for a lifestyle session and spending some time with amazing people – capturing their love for one other is what makes me want to go dance all day for joy and happiness. So you can imagine how extra special it was, when Justin and Caitlin invited me to capture their newborn twins. Not one bundle of joy and happiness – but two. Oh – and not to forget their adopted little furry guy – Colby – who snuck into a few of the photos as well – hehe. Enjoy this celebration of love and life.
There is something about black and white images that is just so true and beautiful. It brings out the emotions and there are times when I just fall in love with black and white images. I have been wanting to do an all black and white getting ready wedding post for a long time – and now I decided to just do it. So here is a first part of Danielle + Chris’s wedding – all in black and white.
Come back to our blog soon to see the rest of this beautiful winter wedding in color.
Thank you Ivan Kapra for capturing such fun moments of the guys.
